The trick to organizing your business and accounts is to start at home. Yes, home can get messy, but you shouldn’t let it get out of control. Here are some tips on how to keep your office space clean and organized.

Whether it’s in your closet, your file cabinet or your dishes, color coordinating is a good way to start organizing your home office space. Color coding helps you pick out things faster and you feel more calm knowing everything is in place. Having color also makes your home office pop, which can make your mood happier.

If your pictures of family or you have a lot of sticky notes your desk, try adding some screws and hangers on your walls. Put photos on the wall and a tackboard to put your notes up. Put up letters in a letter holder, or any file in a wall file holder. This is a great option if you don’t have a lot of cabinet space.  Putting up  your stuff can make you feel better and clears your head from thinking that you have too many things to do. An uncluttered desk is a happy desk.

Whether it’s in your office space or your living room, hide your wires, it will make you feel better. Grab a cable box to manage all your wires and place them in a proper place away from your eyesight. Create a box using wood or even cardboard, but make it festive. You can decorate these boxes and make them have purpose, such as picture frame space or trinket display space.

Make it a habit to go through each week and rid of paper you don’t need. Shred it! If you have paper that you do need, then lace it in it’s correct file. Don’t let paper pile, because it will make you scatterbrained. Make a pile every week and get rid of papers that you don’t need anymore.

Make sure you have space for everything. Utilize storage space you already have and look into some extra filing cabinet and storage drawers. Create shelving and books. Don’t go overboard though. Your office space needs to not be crowded.

When that happens, it’s time to look into having a garage sale or donating.
